How do dogs ask for help? - Episode 22

Have you noticed that Míša Drábková has certain abilities that are almost incomprehensible to many of us? You may be wondering how he does it all that he understands our four-legged partners so much and often sees more than we do. Regarding the following story from her life, she says: "It's unbelievable! It looks like the dogs themselves are asking me for advice!"

A dog is a very intelligent animal. He knows and perceives things that we humans often completely miss. Hearing, smell and overall perception of what is happening around him are many times more sensitive to dogs than humans. For me, dogs are an example of a conscious approach to life, because unlike humans, they know/know information that remains "hidden" from us. They even know things about their owners that even they don't know. How deeply they have read us, we can write about next time. Today I'm going to share with you a story that actually happened.

What a nice surprise!

Dogs never cease to surprise and amaze me with their awesomeness, which leads us humans to get to know and learn new things. The whole situation lasted less than ten minutes. And what happened?

I'm rushing through the park to my meeting and I'm already late because of the traffic jam. Suddenly, about fifty meters in front of me, I see a beautiful well-built Czechoslovakian Vlciak. He was on a leash and staring at me. I didn't even have time to greet him from a distance when he began to pull his mistress towards me and cooed (author's note – he growled with delight). He dragged the lady up to me and immediately snuggled up. He put his head in my lap and began to greet me as if we had grown up together. He hummed loudly, and I could see that he was satisfied. I was very happy for this unique greeting and the opportunity to reward him for his attention with a caress.

"I'm sorry. He doesn't normally do this. I don't know what's going on. I don't know him like that," says the lady immediately in welcome. And she hinted that she would leave. But the dog did not let himself be discouraged and insisted on scratching. "Hm, he doesn't normally do this to kiss a stranger," the lady commented on the situation. I was interested in learning more about why the dog behaves differently than his mistress knows him.

Universal advice often doesn't work. Every human-dog partnership is different, unique and needs a different approach!

Why did this situation arise?

I was glad for the opportunity to say hello to the dog. I introduced myself to the lady as a coach for communication with dogs. "Yes, well, we don't have any problem, and everything is fine." The dog immediately commented on her reaction with his long inquisitive look at the lady and then licked me. It was as if he was begging me, "Hey, do something about it." The lady was perceptive and after this reaction she began to trust the dog more. In the next sentence, she immediately smoothly switched to talking about situations that arise. The dog did not like to be alone, he ran away from the fenced property and destroyed things at home. That's why he had to be locked in a pen when she left for work. Neither of them felt comfortable imagining this situation. The dog turned around as he was talking and let himself be scratched over his tail so that he almost danced.

I have to openly admit that during such short encounters, I don't like to give advice on what and how to do with dogs so that my partners start to thrive. Universal advice often doesn't work. Every human-dog partnership is different, unique and needs a different approach. To remedy the situation, it is necessary to look at the common everyday coexistence of man and dog and their mutual communication in deeper detail. The cause of the behavior is usually hidden elsewhere than it may seem at first glance.

Dogs usually feel separation in situations where their owner leaves, just because a person does not say goodbye to them!

Sometimes just a little is enough

In the situation that was just taking place, I had a partner in the furry friend who gave me a hint. With his lick, during the description of the correct communication, he evaluated the suitability of my explanation/hint of what can be tried to improve. Dogs usually feel separation in situations where the owner leaves, just because the person does not say goodbye to them. He just walks away. And with a dog, it's not. The dog does not understand what is happening. It may sound exaggerated but try to calmly tell your dog that you will come back to him and give him your full attention for a few seconds. We humans don't perceive these situations on such a hurtful level as dogs and children.

"Well, I didn't know that a dog perceives this that way. I thought he understood," the lady commented in surprise, promising to try my suggestion. For the dog, this owner's realization was enough to confirm that their coexistence will become happier and will be better. He gave me his thankful look, barked and immediately began to pay attention to the smells around in the park.

Does this situation remind you of an unrealistic fairy tale?

For me, she was a wonderful example of how dogs help us humans understand a lot of things that we are not even aware of in communication or in our mutual partnership. You have all the knowledge of communication with your dog within you. Allow yourself to discover it with simple steps that will lead you to a more enjoyable partnership. The methods used are great, but you deserve more.

If you want to discover the art of communication for your partnership, take advantage of the opportunity to solve your woes and misunderstandings once and for all.
